Wife, mother, grandmother, minister's wife and author are just part of my identity .....

however, my tendency toward a philosophical nature  seems to have come to me from my Greek ancestors.  My grandfather came to USA through the portals of Ellis Island, NY.  Although I did not know much about Greece as a child, I have been privileged to visit the country twice as an adult.

Even so, I could not imagine that the fascination I felt for Greek things would ever become an important part of my middle-aged life.  I went for a master's degree in philosophy, which is full of Greek history!  I had to study the Greek philosophers and their philosophies until it was ingrained in me.

It is also fascinating to muse that maybe my own analytical and philosophical nature has been passed on to me, if not just from the genes, then perhaps it was developed from the environment of all of my high-powered, sensitive, debating and analytical aunts and uncles. We seldom had a family reunion without great emotional outbursts of opinions, concerning God, doctrines, church standards, food, kids, preachers, friends, enemies or you name it.  They always reconciled after disputes, of course, and we cousins formed real partnerships, listening to the passionate discourses performed in our hearing.  They always kissed each other in greetings and goodbyes.

My life before college had been full.  (I, truthfully, do not know if I would have enjoyed college more at a younger age, or not.)  My husband and I studied Spanish in Costa Rica, and then became ordained missionaries to Uruguay, South America. We pastored 3 churches before going to the mission field and two more churches after we came home from the field.  Studying the Spanish language and attaining a degree in Spanish was quite enough for me, besides raising 4 children.  My husband has been a busy pastor, preacher, evangelist, missionary, district superintendent, regional presbyter, honorary presbyter and a foreign missions director.  I have even forgotten a few other positions he held, but I have never forgotten the involvement of the work I helped him share.  I had been involved in ladies ministries and was the president of the New York Metro Ladies Ministries for 12 years.

  • More later. Take your time reading. It takes time to write it.  It will be a diary of sorts and an outpouring of the soul at other times.
